![]() STUDIO CULTURE
One could argue which of our studios boasts the favored culture. Many, if not all of our Victoria staff will tell you, their studio is a wonderful place to work. The studio is located at Bastion Square directly across from the inner harbour with access to several of Victoria's most beautiful parks and wonderful restaurants and shops. A close-knit staff of 16 enjoys a crafty heritage space featuring exposed red brick, open mezzanines, and a quaint kitchen and library area. Candies can be found at the front desk for those with a sweet tooth as can a friendly canine from time to time. The space is funky as are the people and the atmosphere. It's Victoria! The Vancouver studio is a little bit different - okay a lot different. After almost a quarter century in our Gastown premises, we relocated to allow significant renovations to Gaoler's Mews. Our group of 30 is working hard at making our new home, located between Coal Harbour and Robson Street a comfortable and welcoming place to be. Fortunately, the great people have not changed and this is very apparent by the overwhelmingly friendly atmosphere that has transcended from one location to another. Common to both studios is Merrick's boutique-style culture - Friday project presentations and social time; an open door policy for visitors; close proximity to water and the urban core; and above all, our appreciation for the craft of architecture. ![]() ![]() |
