The challenge of designing this unique 3,430 sq. ft. multi-level home was not limited simply to the celebration of the site’s dramatic views and rocky West Vancouver waterfront site. Rather, it was the challenge of building anything at all on the precipitous piece of cliff which descends a breath-taking 80 feet from the road access to the ocean below, within an irregular lot measuring only 90 ft. by 140 ft. Adding to the complexity was the desire to retain, as much as possible, the site’s limited foliage, minimize the intrusion on views from adjacent properties, and maximize both the privacy and outlook while creating a sense of connection with the landscape. The resulting home offers a journey of views from cantilevered decks, while embracing private pockets of natural landscaping.
