New Associates at Merrick!



We welcome COLIN MERRIAM and MARK ZAITSOFF to our Leadership Team!

Principals Gregory Borowski, Mitch Sakumoto, Graham Fligg, and Shaun McIntyre are pleased to appoint Colin Merriam and Mark Zaitsoff as Associates, to complement the established role of the Studio’s Senior Associates Bette Adams, Louise Webb and Darryl Jonas.

Colin Merriam graduated from Dalhousie University in 2007 with a master’s degree in Architecture. Within the profession Colin has a focused interest in residential design as well as the adaptive re-use and re-vitalization of existing building structures. He is a registered Architect with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia currently with 9 years of experience in the industry.  At Merrick Architecture he has been involved in all stages of project development and has served in a primary role on both the Pennsylvania and Gastown Hotel heritage revitalizations, as well as a boutique luxury multi-unit residential development in Vancouver which is currently under construction. Colin is currently serving as the Project Architect on an infill townhouse development in Oak Bay as well as a mixed-use heritage conversion in downtown Victoria.

Mark Zaitsoff has been working in the architectural field since the completion of his schooling at the University of Manitoba in 2003. Mark was an early adopter of the LEED Green Building Rating system becoming a LEED Accredited Professional in 2005. He has worked on a variety of LEED Certified Projects as well as on the documentation team for the Platinum Certified LEED Neighborhood, Vancouver Olympic Village.

Mark’s roles include conceptual design, design development, process management, working drawing production and coordination, and construction contract administration.  His interest in sustainable design brings a valuable perspective to the design process.  He has worked on the Schematic Design and Development phases of numerous projects, and has fulfilled the role of Project Architect on the Riverway Golf Course Clubhouse, Taylor Manor Social Housing Heritage Upgrade and LEED Gold Addition, and City of Vancouver City Hall Accessibility Upgrades.
