Position Available: Intern Architect or Architect (Vancouver)



We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Intern Architect or Architect demonstrating strong design concept, design development, and construction documentation skills. You must be registered with the AIBC or eligible to register with the AIBC. We would like the applicant to lead a team through the design and documentation phases (including coordination) as well as having proven experience in the construction administration phase, which will be an integral part of the job. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the design team on a variety of projects and must possess excellent detailed working drawing experience within British Columbia.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the design team to develop and produce drawings, renderings, and construction documents
  • Ensure project timelines are met
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate with clients, contractors and consultants – consultant coordination
  • Contribute to design concepts and presentations
  • Assist with project management tasks as needed
  • Lead a team to produce relevant Development and Building permit documentation with minimal monitoring
  • Construction administration phase including responding to RFIs & submittals, issuing ASIs, CCNs & COs and the preparation of Certificates of Payment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be registered with the AIBC or eligible to register with the AIBC
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of BC experience
  • Experience in leading and producing Construction Documentation
  • Strong working knowledge of the BC Building code & VBBL
  • Working knowledge of the Step Code requirements
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite, and BlueBeam
  • Experience in heritage retrofit and adaptive re-use projects will be considered assets
  • Strong interpersonal, organization and communication skills
  • Complete fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Comfortable leading a team and carrying out all aspects of Construction Administration
  • Comfortable working in a supportive, deadline-oriented team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
