This project consists of a 4-storey boutique condominium building with three residential strata suites. The building is seen as a โcameraโ capturing and framing views south towards the water, with an architectural concrete carapace and glass lenses. These components are protected by large southwest facing balconies diminishing low-angle west sun and deflecting wind off the water. The North Shore Winter Club site is situated in the northeastern corner of the emerging Lower Lynn Town Centre, yet feels separate and distant owing to current circumstance. Separated from the Town Centre by Lynn Creek and the lush natural greenbelt provided by Seylynn and Bridgman Parks, the property fronts Lynnmouth Avenue on the western boundary between the City and District of North Vancouver. The focus of this masterplan was on the sensitive rehabilitation of the lands immediately adjacent to the grounds of the Victoria Parliament Buildings. Rezoning was facilitated by an extensive public review process with the goal being to build on the existing street character of the neighbouring James Bay Community, preserving and augmenting existing views, pedestrian routes, neighbourhood character, and streetscapes.

Conceived as the convergence of earth, air and water, O2 encompasses the natural elements situated within a densely populated urban context. The curvilinear and jagged building massing oriented towards the ocean reflects the form of an earthen massing eroded over time by the natural forces of wind and water, while the street faรงade at the leeward side of the wind retains a formal geometric massing that embraces the urban realm. The Day Lodge is nestled in the Callaghan Valley, close to Whistler. The location was deemed ideal for ski jump, cross country and biathlon sports facilities, and offers spectacular outlooks immediately west to snowcapped Brandywine and Powder Mountains and Pali Dome. The site features primarily second growth vegetation. Particular effort was expended in the site planning to attending to effective water management and drainage filtration, and to the retention of healthy mature treeย clusters.
