West Vancouver’s “The Hollyburn” is a mixed use project incorporating 17,000 square feet of medical/dental tenancies, 28,000 square feet of commercial/retail, and 14 rooftop town homes comprising 18,000 square feet. Three levels of below grade parking provide 135 stalls. A crossfall slope of 25 feet, together with the L-shaped site configuration and access/exit requirements for all three uses, combined to present a great design challenge. The resulting phased design is a pleasing balance of form and use, articulated in consideration of the site’s high profile within the community.

A contemporary three storey medical building constructed as Phase I accommodates all the existing health care tenants. Phase II provides two levels of transparent retail space crowned by the town homes which are accessed by a separate street-level lobby. Both phases embrace a common service court while maintaining a separate sense of identity.
